On December 1, 2009, the SLSA ran an election for the 3 open seats on the SLSA Board of Directors. Sally LaSalle, GiavannaMarie Melody and Ashleigh Dickins joined Desirae Beaumont and Abel Halderman on the Board. We would like to thank Syx Toshi, Marianna Montenes and Kimmy Jigsaw for running for the office in the election. Also a HUGE thank you to the directors leaving the Board: WickedV Carver and Bonheur Chenaux, as well as Robin Mapp for their hard work on making the community better for all.
The Montego competitions
On December 5th and 12th the knowhere and Doobie held last SLSA competitions in season 2 2009: Montego Longboard Epic Pro and Montego Longboard Epic Invitational. It was in fact two competitions, according to the format modification. Each of the finalists and heats runners up in the Pro competition has been invited to compete in the Invitational one against the top 20 ranked surfers. We would like to thank the hosts: counting Offcourse, Robbin Ember and the whole Montego team for letting us surf their waves, their work and support.
During the competiton the SLSA had a chance to test two innovations: - script checker, rezzed on the beach, allowed everyone to see if they’re wearing any scripted attachments that might have created lag - manual wave rezzing done by a judge let the competition run faster
